Hi, I’m Melody—a 1.5-year-old Belgian Malinois weighing about 45 pounds, and I was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Texas. I’m incredibly smart, eager to learn, and the kind of dog who picks things up almost instantly. Seriously—show me something once, and there’s a good chance I’ll already understand what you’re asking. I’m the type of dog who truly wants to work with her person and make them happy.

I can get a little excited sometimes, especially on leash or when I think it’s time for an adventure, but I respond very quickly to guidance and correction. I’m already showing how trainable and attentive I am, and with consistency and structure, I’m going to absolutely thrive. Because of how intelligent I am, I’d do best in a home that will keep both my mind and body active. Walks, training, games, adventures, or some kind of “job” would make me happiest.

I enjoy attention and love being involved in whatever my people are doing. I seem to do well around other dogs, though I haven’t been cat tested yet, but I can be upon request. More than anything, I’m looking for someone who understands my breed and is excited about having a loyal, smart, driven companion by their side. I’ll come fully vetted, spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. With the right person, I truly think I’m going to be an amazing dog.
