Lilly is a beagle, and she'd like you to know it.
This ~3 year old girl came to us from a kill shelter with a classic hound trick up her sleeve: the more she likes you, the more she has to say about it. She'll greet you with a happy howl, serenade you when you walk back through the door, and generally narrate her good moods at a volume that is, let's say, very on brand for the breed. If you've met a beagle, you know. If you haven't- surprise, they're a little musical!
The rest of her is pure easy company. At 24 pounds she's a compact little sweetheart who did great with kids ages 5 to 13, prancing happily behind them, playing chase and putting up with some very enthusiastic toddler-style affection. She meets other dogs with relaxed, curious body language and settles right in, and couldn't care less about cats. She's house trained, maybe crate trained, and loves a good chewy treat.
Lilly is heartworm positive. That sounds scarier than it is- it's treatable, and we'll have a plan in place for her care before she goes home. Unfortunately, that does mean she will need to be fostered or adopted in the Tulsa area to receive treatment. It doesn't make her one bit less of a sweet, funny, people loving dog. It just means her future family gets to be part of getting her healthy.
