Meet Mabel

The sweetest little senior beagle looking for her happily ever after.

Mabel's story before rescue is largely a mystery. We know she was found as a stray and ended up in a shelter, but what happened before that is anyone's guess. Based on her condition, we believe she may have spent part of her life as a breeding dog, having had at least one litter of puppies. Thankfully, those days are behind her. Mabel will be spayed in the coming weeks to ensure she will never have to endure that life again.

What we do know is this...

Mabel is one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet.

At around 10 years old, she's proof that senior dogs still have so much love left to give. She's gentle, easygoing, and asks for very little—just a soft place to rest, a leisurely walk, and someone to love.

Like any true beagle, Mabel experiences the world through her nose. Whether she's exploring the backyard, sniffing every blade of grass on a walk, or simply lying outside enjoying the breeze while keeping an eye (and nose!) out for squirrels, she's happiest when she can follow whatever interesting scent comes her way.

Because that nose occasionally convinces her to investigate beyond the yard, a securely fenced yard is important to help keep this adventurous girl safe.

Despite being new to foster care, Mabel has settled in beautifully. In fact, she hasn't made a peep. She's as quiet as a mouse. As she's started to feel safe, we're beginning to see little glimpses of her personality—including an adorable morning wiggle dance when breakfast is on the way. It's impossible not to smile watching her happy little shuffle.

She gets along wonderfully with other dogs (cats are currently unknown) and has impeccable manners around the house. When she's not exploring outdoors, you'll usually find her curled up on the sofa enjoying one of her many naps.

One of our favorite things about Mabel?

She absolutely loves car rides. She simply climbs in, settles into the seat beside you, and enjoys the adventure. Whether it's a trip to the park, the pet store, or just running errands, she's the perfect co-pilot.

As Mabel's foster mom, I honestly can't say enough wonderful things about her. She has a quiet, gentle spirit that makes your home feel calmer simply by being in it. She's affectionate without being demanding, adventurous without being overwhelming, and grateful for every kindness shown to her.

If you're looking for a loyal walking buddy, a professional couch snuggler, and a sweet companion to share life's quieter moments with, Mabel just might be your girl.

A Note From Her Foster Mom

I've fostered a lot of dogs, and every once in a while one comes along who quietly steals your heart. Mabel is that dog.

She doesn't ask for much. She doesn't demand attention. She's simply content to be near you, to enjoy a walk with her nose leading the way, to curl up beside you on the couch, and to remind you that sometimes the gentlest souls have the biggest hearts.

If you think Mabel could be the missing piece of your family, we'd love for you to meet her.

Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee. Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite. Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
