MEET JELLY BEAN!
Some rescue puppies come into the world with difficult stories already written for them. Jelly Bean is one of the lucky ones.
She was born into rescue, which means she has never known what it is to be hungry, abandoned, frightened, or left to fend for herself. Her world has always included a devoted mama, full bellies, soft bedding, gentle hands, safety, and love.
And now this beautiful little girl is getting ready for the next chapter of her story: finding a family who will continue the wonderful beginning she's been given.
Jelly Bean is an absolutely adorable little butterball with a soft, fluffy coat, beautiful blue eyes, a sweet white blaze down her face, and a wonderfully distinctive pink-and-black speckled nose. Add her short, sturdy legs and those ridiculously cute paws, and you've got one thoroughly irresistible little Bean.
She's only just beginning to show us who she's going to become, but she's already off to a terrific start!
THE STORY OF MAMA MISSY AND THE BEAN POD SQUAD
Jelly Bean's mama, Missy, is a beautiful, exceptionally sweet Beagle mix who was rescued from beneath an abandoned house, where she was at risk of flooding.
Missy arrived at her foster home just hours before a major storm swept through East Texas in early September. Safe at last, she welcomed her puppies into the world on September 6, surrounded by warmth, comfort, and loving care.
Mama Missy is a petite, approximately 28-pound girl who is still nursing her babies. She has a soft, silky coat, a compact little build, and a wonderfully gentle, affectionate personality. Although she certainly has that adorable Beagle appearance, she's remarkably quiet by nature, not the constant barker or howler some people might expect.
And Jelly Bean? She's one of six surviving puppies affectionately known as the Bean Pod Squad!
We strongly suspect their father was an Australian Cattle Dog, also known as a Blue Heeler, but his identity has not been confirmed through DNA testing. Our breed identification is an educated guess based on the parents' appearances and the puppies' physical characteristics, not a verified genetic determination.
A HAPPY LITTLE BEAN
The Bean Pod Squad is a remarkably happy, confident, affectionate bunch.
Because these puppies have been lovingly handled and socialized since birth, they're already comfortable with human attention and eager to be included in whatever is happening around them.
They love to explore, play together, investigate their surroundings, and climb all over their foster mama whenever the opportunity presents itself.
And when it's time to come out and play? Let's just say six little Beans have no trouble expressing their enthusiasm!
Jelly Bean is still very young, and her individual personality will continue to develop over the coming weeks. We won't pretend to know everything about the dog she'll become. What we can tell you is that she's being raised with patience, affection, appropriate boundaries, and plenty of opportunities to learn about the world.
That's a pretty wonderful foundation for a lifetime companion.
GROWING UP WITH GOOD HABITS
One of the nicest surprises about these puppies has been how naturally they're settling into a normal household rhythm.
They've been doing beautifully with their nighttime routine, generally settling down to sleep while the household rests and waking ready for another day of important puppy business.
Of course, they're still babies! Meals, fresh bedding, playtime, and visits from their foster mama are all cause for great excitement.
Their future families should expect the usual puppy adjustments, including interrupted nights, teething, chewing, supervision, and plenty of patient training.
Jelly Bean is not housetrained. At her age, she hasn't yet developed the physical maturity or training needed for reliable house manners. Her adopter will need to establish a consistent potty-training routine, reward good habits, and understand that accidents are a normal part of raising a puppy.
She is growing up alongside her littermates, but continued positive socialization with people, appropriate dogs, and new experiences will be important as she matures.
HOW BIG WILL THIS LITTLE BEAN GET?
Jelly Bean weighed 5.5 pounds at nearly six weeks old.
Her mama weighs approximately 28 pounds, and her suspected father is an Australian Cattle Dog. Based on what we know of the parents, Jelly Bean's current size, and her compact build, we expect her to mature into a small-to-medium or medium-sized dog.
We do not anticipate her becoming a large dog, although exact adult weight and height cannot be guaranteed with a mixed-breed puppy.
For now, she's a short-legged little bundle of puppy charm with plenty of growing left to do!
HEALTH & VACCINATIONS
Jelly Bean is scheduled to receive her first round of puppy vaccinations on October 20, 2026, at six weeks of age, followed by her second round on November 15, 2026, when she turns ten weeks old.
All Bean Pod Squad puppies will receive both rounds of puppy vaccinations on schedule before leaving foster care, in accordance with transport requirements.
Her adopter will be responsible for continuing the remaining age-appropriate puppy vaccination series and fulfilling the veterinary and spay/neuter requirements outlined in the adoption agreement.
PRE-ADOPTION & NEXT STEPS
Jelly Bean is currently accepting applications for pre-adoption!
Jelly Bean is fostered in Livingston, Texas, and applications from approved out-of-state adopters are welcome.
Born September 6, 2026, Jelly Bean must remain in foster care until she is at least ten weeks old. Her earliest possible departure date is November 15, 2026, provided she has completed her required vaccinations and meets all transport requirements.
Adoption Fee: $200
There is no fee to apply, and submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt or reserve a puppy.
Once your application has been reviewed and approved by Animals Lives Matter, you will receive the necessary pre-adoption paperwork outlining reservation and payment terms, veterinary requirements, spay/neuter obligations, and other important adoption responsibilities.
All terms will be provided for your review and agreement before any payment is requested.
After approval and completion of the required paperwork, the $200 adoption fee must be paid to officially reserve Jelly Bean. A puppy is not considered reserved until the application has been approved, the agreements completed, and payment received.
Of the $200 adoption fee, $75 is designated toward spay/neuter and will be reimbursed directly to the veterinary office in accordance with the adoption agreement.

WHILE YOU WAIT FOR YOUR BEAN
One of the special things about adopting a puppy through this pre-adoption program is that you don't have to miss out on all those precious early milestones.
Once Jelly Bean is officially reserved, her foster mama will be happy to share updated photographs, weights, developmental milestones, veterinary updates, and other little glimpses of her life as she grows.
You'll have the opportunity to watch your puppy grow and begin getting to know her before she comes home!
Meanwhile, Jelly Bean will continue receiving the love, care, attention, and early socialization that have been part of her life since the day she was born.
