At about 8 months old, Lydia is ready to leave her overlooked shelter days behind and find the forever family she's been waiting for! This medium-sized Beagle mix was a standout at the local shelter, and now that she's with CARE, we're excited to help her find the people who will see just how special she is.
Lydia is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves attention, belly rubs, and, of course, tasty treats! She's very people-oriented and has been friendly with other dogs so far. She's also been pretty easy on leash, making her a lovely candidate for walks and adventures with her new family.
Lydia has lovely manners, but don't be surprised if she decides your lap is the perfect place to be! She's polite, loving, and clearly believes there's always room for a little extra affection.
We're still discovering all the wonderful layers of Lydia's personality, but she's already showing us what a great companion she has the potential to be. She's got a wonderful foundation, a loving heart, and so much room to blossom.
Could Lydia be the sweet, treat-loving, lap-sharing companion you've been looking for? Give this deserving girl the chance to be someone's very best friend. She may have been overlooked before, but her happily-ever-after is still waiting to begin!
Lydia is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption fee is $300.
Lydia is in the Paws in Prison program, where she receives basic obedience training. She will graduate from Paws in Prison on 12/19/2026. The dogs in this program are provided basic level training under the AKC Canine Good Citizen standards and are specifically selected to be family and companion dogs. They spend 24 hours a day with their trainers. So, there will be an adjustment period as they adjust to their new family schedule.
For this reason, they will do best in homes where they are primarily inside dogs and spend lots of time with their families. The adoptive family will receive his training journal. This journal documents his arrival from the shelter, daily training progress, and interactions with the trainers.
If you are interested in meeting Lydia or learning more about our adoption process, please submit an adoption application. Thank you!
