Bella - Basset Hound Dog for Adoption in Pinellas Park, Florida

Bella is an energetic darling! She gets along with with all dogs and humans alike. Bella really loves to play with toys, play fetch and play with her beagle Foster sister. She has large spurts of energy, and then likes to sleep for a few hours to recharge her battery.

Bella's, favorite thing to do is cuddle on the couch with her humans, and she loves to flop across their lap. Because Bella is so muscular, she is heavier than she looks and can really pack a wallop when she flops on you. Bella is a sucker for belly rubs.

Ultimately, Bella would love to sleep in bed with her new family, however, she currently sleeps in a crate at night. Though she whines for about 3 minutes, she will fall fast asleep through the night.

Bella is housebroken, and she has never had an accident in the house, she will even tell her humans when she needs to go out.

Bella loves to walk, however she does pull because she is so strong. Though bassets are known to be quite lazy, Bella does need to release energy before she goes to bed at night, whether that is through a walk or playing fetch. Bella has a lot of energy.

When her humans leave the house she barks at the front door if left outside of a crate. But when her Foster family placed her in the crate when they left, they observed her sleeping while they were gone.

Bella was relinquished to a vet, because she had one seizure and her owner could not supply her with the twice daily preventative seizure medication she needed. Fluff took Bella in and and she has not had a seizure since the first and only incident that brought her to the vet.

The Basset Hound is a unique and recognizable breed known for its long body, droopy ears, and soulful eyes. Originating from France, they were originally bred for hunting small game like rabbits due to their keen sense of smell and sturdy build. Despite their laid back and affectionate nature, Basset Hounds are also persistent and independent thinkers, which can make training a bit challenging. With their low energy levels and love for lounging, they make wonderful companion dogs for families seeking a loyal and easygoing pet.
