DESCRIPTION
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sharon (aka Abby) is now available for adoption! You may recall that Abby is the GGBR puppy who was susptected to have swimmer syndrome because she was unable to walk. She moved around at a fast speed by using her hind legs in a swimming motion. She also had no control of her bladder. It was determined that she was not a swimmer dog but rather was born with a spinal defect. She is still unable to walk and cannot control her urination. She continues to be a very happy lively puppy who is receiving the best of care in her foster home. Little Miss Abby now has a wheelchair for her walks outside. Her PT has also recommended a treadmill that also can be used to try to get Abby to walk. Between the PT and acupuncture, everything possible is being done to assist Abby toward walking, but so far, Abby is still unable to use her hind legs. She is one stubborn little girl (typical basset ?!).
ABOUT: BASSET HOUND DOG BREED
The Basset Hound is a unique and recognizable breed known for its long body, droopy ears, and soulful eyes. Originating from France, they were originally bred for hunting small game like rabbits due to their keen sense of smell and sturdy build. Despite their laid back and affectionate nature, Basset Hounds are also persistent and independent thinkers, which can make training a bit challenging. With their low energy levels and love for lounging, they make wonderful companion dogs for families seeking a loyal and easygoing pet.
