DESCRIPTION
Chunky is an 8 year old beagle-basset hound mix. He is an incredibly sweet, mild mannered couch potato of a hound dog.
He was surrendered to a shelter from a hoarding house and spent 8 months waiting to be adopted until we took him home when he was 1 year old. He has spent the last 7 years as our best friend and companion.
Chunky loves sleeping and tug-of-war, he enjoys walks but hates rain. He is good with cats and older children but is leash reactive with dogs. He is not aggressive and can be acclimated to other pets if he has time to get to know them on neutral ground. He loves people more than anything and may jump but only ever in a friendly manner.
The reason he is being re-homed is that in his old age he seems to have become skittish around babies. 9 months ago my wife and I welcomed our first child and he has since been acting out although non-aggressively. We wish we could keep him but feel it is best for his mental health and our child's wellbeing to find a a home that can give him the attention he deserves as he was an "only child" for a long time and is not adjusting well to the change.

ABOUT: BASSET HOUND DOG BREED
The Basset Hound is a unique and recognizable breed known for its long body, droopy ears, and soulful eyes. Originating from France, they were originally bred for hunting small game like rabbits due to their keen sense of smell and sturdy build. Despite their laid back and affectionate nature, Basset Hounds are also persistent and independent thinkers, which can make training a bit challenging. With their low energy levels and love for lounging, they make wonderful companion dogs for families seeking a loyal and easygoing pet.
