Franny - Australian Shepherd Dog for Adoption in Sparta, Wisconsin

Meet Franny! Franny is a 2 year old female Australian Shepherd mix who is looking for a new forever home!

Franny was removed from a welfare/neglect investigation and had a very rough start in life. Unfortunately she was not only kept in horribly unsanitary conditions, but she was also neglected from life outside of the 4 walls of an outdoor kennel area, meaning she never got to experience things like walks, car rides, meeting people, interacting with other dogs, sniffing leaves, or even just being an Australian Shepherd and getting to work on a farm. Because of this, Franny's adopters will need to understand that much of what we know as normal might be entirely new to her, and it may require patience while she learns.

In order to help Franny learn skills before she's adopted, the folks at Fun Fur Pets in La Crosse have been fostering her in their 2nd Chance to Shine program, where she will continue to be provided with enrichment and rehabilitation so that she can be the happiest girl in her future life! She will brush up on skills like proper manners, basic obedience, and they'll continue to learn more about her social interactions. So far she's been incredibly friendly and happy around people, and should do well with other dogs as long as everyone is properly introduced and supervised. She will likely do best in a home with children over the age of 10, depending on the experience level of her adult owners.

Franny may do well as a working farm dog, or simply as a house pet, depending on how much training & conditioning her family would be willing to do. We do not know how she would do around farm animals, as we don't believe she has ever met any.

Even though Franny endured a great deal of neglect in her life prior to intervention, we're hopeful that the right family will come along and show her how wonderful life can be! She's definitely got the happy personality to move forward optimistically and filled with a zest for life!
