Meet Max

Life may not have dealt Max the right cards in the beginning, but thanks to a last-minute second chance, this sweet boy landed exactly where he needed to be — in the right place at the right time.

At just over a year old, Max is learning what it means to be safe, loved, and free. He’s getting back on all four paws and discovering the joys of being a young dog. So much is still new to him, but he continues to make wonderful strides and is heading in all the right directions.

Max can be shy and a little unsure when meeting new people. Given his past, we’re happy to give him the extra grace he deserves. Trust won’t happen overnight, but with patience, consistency, and a little time, Max is learning that people can be good and that he doesn’t have to be afraid.

And once Max feels comfortable? Get ready — this boy is a track star! He loves playing tag, investigating all the best smells, and joining in on whatever hobbies his humans are enjoying. His current crew includes canine friends, outdoor cats, noisy ducks, and some very interesting feathered birds, so he’s no stranger to a busy household!

Max also enjoys watching the little human play, although he prefers to do so from a safe distance. But don’t let that fool you — he’s watching closely and ready at a moment’s notice, just in case someone decides to throw his ball!

Max’s perfect home will be one filled with patience, understanding, and a little room to let him come out of his shell at his own pace. He needs a family willing to let him lay his head down, catch his breath, and learn that he’s finally home.

Once Max knows he’s safe and his heart catches up with his happy new life, we know he’ll give his family something incredibly special: years of laughter, loyalty, goofy adventures, and unconditional love.

Max has already been given a second chance. Now he’s just waiting for the person who will give him his forever.
