DESCRIPTION

Meet Remington, a 7-year-old, 25-pound Miniature Australian Shepherd who has been quietly winning over everyone he meets. This sweet boy has a gentle spirit and a soft way about him, and once he feels comfortable, his personality starts to shine in the most endearing ways. He loves being petted, enjoys rolling on his back, and has recently discovered that toys are actually pretty fun.

Remington can be a bit shy when he first meets new people or encounters new situations, and it may take him some time to adjust and learn new routines in a home environment. He thrives with consistency and structure, and once he understands what to expect, he becomes a loyal and affectionate companion who happily greets his people when they come home.

Remington is working on learning new behaviors and how to settle into a home. He gets along well with other dogs, walks great on a leash, and loves hiking. Even though he isn't a dog who will snuggle on the couch, he absolutely adores his people and shows his affection through excitement, tail wags, and warm greetings.

He does get nervous with changes and can be a flight risk when his environment is shifting. Because of this, he will need a patient adopter who can give him time to adjust and help him understand that he's safe. A high, secure fence-or a home without a backyard during his adjustment period-will be important for his safety. Once he's comfortable, he handles visitors well and will even approach guests for pets.

Remington also requires another confident dog in the home to help him continue building confidence and feel secure in his environment. A meet-and-greet is required to ensure it is a good fit.

He also happens to be a huge fan of mealtime and treats, especially his favorite: boiled chicken. Watching him light up when food comes out is one of the many lovable things about him.

Remington is looking for someone who appreciates a quieter, routine-loving companion and who can give him the reassurance he needs to keep blossoming. Once he trusts you, he's the kind of dog who will quietly but deeply adore you.
------
Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!
