IF THIS LISTING IS STILL UP, the pet is still available for adoption!
***Please read this first, as it answers the majority of questions we receive***
E-mails or contact forms that are submitted prior to completing an adoption application will not be answered. Applications are located at:
www.aussierescue.org
If you are interested in one of our dogs but live outside of Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, or Colorado, please select Texas as your state (but keep all other info the same) when completing your app so it can be routed to us for consideration.
Once we receive your application, we will contact you. Our organization requires prospective adopters to complete a screening process prior to meeting with dogs in our program. This process includes:
- Completion of Adoption Application
- Veterinarian Check
- Reference Checks (non-relatives)
- Home Visit
Our ultimate goal is to screen and counsel potential homes to the best of our ability in an effort to find the most perfect match and fit for their lifestyle.
Please keep in mind that color and appearance of the available dog will have no bearing on adoption placement decisions.

ABOUT KALE:
Rep: Laura Kempf / aussie330@aol.com
Kale is located in Tulsa, OK and it is required that you travel there to meet him in person within 10 days of application approval if you want to adopt (exceptions can be made for out-of-state applicants). We do need the entire party to be involved when meeting available dogs, including every family member and dog(s) that currently live in your home.
Kale was originally found as a stray with very significant injuries that were indicative of a dog or animal attack. He had open, significant wounds, a degloved lower jaw, and a fractured coccygeal vertebrae. To ensure his recovery, he had to be hospitalized for a week and undergo a surgery, but looking at him now, you would never know (aside from the scar on his face, which only adds to his character)!
Kale has put his difficult past behind him, however, and he is now looking for his forever family! This 4-5 month old kiddo is the picture of resiliency, because now he is just your typical herding breed puppy - fun, silly, active, insanely bright, and herdy. He loves other dogs, adults, and cats. He takes time to warm up to children, so older/more mature kids would be best (10-12+).
Kale is house trained, crate trained, and learning leash training. He is very smart, incredibly food motivated, and a fetching champion! He has even shown some interest in frisbee. He is very affectionate and loves to sit in your lap.
He is ready for the next chapter in life!
