Hi, my name is Otis!

I'm a 3-year-old Shepherd/Australian mix who came from a high-kill shelter in Texas. My sister, Ella, and I were given a second chance when we were transported to Big Dog Ranch.
Before coming here, we were found living on the streets in the hot Texas heat, searching for something so many of us take for granted-food and water. Life was scary and uncertain, and we never knew when our next meal or drink would come.
But now everything is different.
The amazing humans here reassure us every day that we will never be hungry or thirsty again. They give us love, patience, playtime, and plenty of reasons to smile.
I'm dog-friendly, good on a leash, and always excited when it's time to go outside and play with my sister, my furry friends, and the staff. I'm also learning my basic commands, so I'm becoming quite the smart boy!
And speaking of smiling... I have a pretty special one. When I'm really happy, I smile with my mouth wide open and my eyes closed. It's my way of saying, "Life is pretty good now!"
I've come a long way, and I'm ready to keep learning, playing, and loving. All I need now is a forever family who will show me that I'm finally home.
