Waylon - Australian Shepherd and Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Hoopeston, Illinois

Waylon is a 50ish pound somewhat calm fellow, with a very sweet and quiet personality. Waylon has a shorter tail, and most of his left ear is missing. So far Waylon has does okay on a leash, and he has done fairly well with most other dogs. We guess him to be younger to middle aged. Waylon was transferred in from another facility where he was originally found so we have no further history on him.

The Australian Shepherd is a highly intelligent and energetic herding dog known for its loyalty and work ethic. Originating in the United States, despite its name, this breed is prized for its agility, trainability, and versatility in various dog sports and activities. Australian Shepherds have a distinctive medium length coat that comes in different colors, often with unique merle patterns. With proper training, socialization, and exercise, these dogs make excellent companions for active families and individuals seeking a devoted and playful four legged friend.

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
