Tanner is a handsome 1.5-year-old Australian Shepherd mix who weighs about 40 pounds and is ready to discover just how wonderful life with people can be.

Tanner and the other dogs in his home had very little human interaction or handling as they grew up. Because of that, Tanner is still learning how to feel comfortable and confident around people.

The good news? Tanner is incredibly smart, and once he decides he trusts you, he bonds quickly. He has already shown that he wants to connect with his people and just needs someone willing to give him the time, patience, and consistency to continue building his confidence. His adopter will need to help him form positive relationships with more people so that his world can gradually become a little bigger.

Tanner is house-trained and would love a home with a secure fenced yard where he can safely explore and play. He would do best with female dogs and may be happiest with a canine companion who can help him feel comfortable and settled.

Tanner isn't looking for someone who expects him to be perfectly confident from day one. He's looking for someone who understands that the best relationships take time and who will celebrate every little step along the way.
