DESCRIPTION
Meet Cyrus! He is a 3 year old Australian shepherd or cattle dog mix. Poor Cyrus came into the shelter shaking from head to toe. He was absolutely petrified of all the dogs barking and everything in the shelter.
Despite how scared he was, he rolled over and showed his stomach. He accepted pets and love, and just wanted to be comforted.
We went straight to his aid and brought him home. While we are just getting to know him, so far he is a very loyal velcro dog that just wants to be with his people. He is really opening up, and just wants to be loved. He will paw you for more pets, and wags his tail like he is remembering how amazing it is to be out of the shelter.
Cyrus is heartworm positive and has started treatment. We will pay for all his treatment, even if he is adopted. Heartworm treatment is very manageable and he does not show any symptoms, so he is ready to go home now.
His adoption application can be found at www.mysaltydog.com.
ABOUT: AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD DOG BREED
The Australian Shepherd is a highly intelligent and energetic herding dog known for its loyalty and work ethic. Originating in the United States, despite its name, this breed is prized for its agility, trainability, and versatility in various dog sports and activities. Australian Shepherds have a distinctive medium length coat that comes in different colors, often with unique merle patterns. With proper training, socialization, and exercise, these dogs make excellent companions for active families and individuals seeking a devoted and playful four legged friend.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
