Bear is a handsome 3-year-old Australian Shepherd/German Shepherd mix looking for a fresh start and a family to love. He was living with a family with 3 special needs kids but the family has recently lost their home. At 65 pounds, he’s a sturdy, lovable guy with a big heart and an even bigger personality. Bear is neutered, vaccinated, and his vet records are available.
Bear absolutely adores people and thrives on affection. Belly rubs, butt scratches, and spending time with his humans are some of his favorite things. He also enjoys relaxing with a good chew bone and having space to stretch out in the yard.
He completed a three-week training program with Upstate Kennels and has a solid foundation with commands like sit, down, stay, and heel. He may need a little refresher, but he’s a smart dog who already knows the basics and has great potential to continue learning.
Bear has lived with another dog in the home and also did well during outdoor playtime at boarding, so he may do well with the right canine match and proper introductions.
Like many herding breeds, Bear is intelligent, alert, and likes to stay involved in what’s going on around him. He would do best with an owner who understands active, working-breed dogs and can provide structure, consistency, and guidance.
