Meet Maynard!

Maynard is a sweet boy with a big heart, a desire to be brave, and a comeback story that you’re invited to be a part of!

Maynard was pulled from a hoarding situation by animal control and then transferred into a foster home with Homeward Bound a couple of months later.
Once he trusts a person, he shows his true colors as a sweet, happy, and easygoing gentleman. But his history means he comes with a little baggage. He is nervous of new people and places, and flinches away from fast movements and loud noises, and takes a while to really trust people.

But despite all of that, he faces his fears every day, enjoys periods of unbridled joy and playfulness, and his fears have never turned him to defensiveness or aggression with people.

Maynard may be selective of his canine companions and would do best with older kids or adults but has tested fine with cats. He is crate trained and potty trained and is an easy companion to live with. He doesn’t ask for much - just a little patience, a little love, and some support as he continues to grow into the bravest version of himself.

The Australian Cattle Dog, also known as the Blue Heeler, is a hardworking and intelligent breed originally developed in Australia for herding cattle. Renowned for their endurance and agility, these medium sized dogs have a striking blue or red speckled coat and alert, curious expression. With a strong herding instinct and boundless energy, they require mental stimulation and physical activity to thrive. Blue Heelers are loyal, protective, and make excellent companions for active individuals or families willing to provide the engagement and exercise they need.

The Collie is a graceful and intelligent dog known for their loyalty, gentle nature, and exceptional herding abilities. They come in two coat varieties, rough and smooth, with colors ranging from sable and white to blue merle. Collies excel in obedience training and thrive on mental stimulation and physical activity. Their keen intuition and strong bond with their owners make them wonderful family pets and reliable working dogs in tasks such as herding livestock or in search and rescue missions.
