Lucy - Australian Cattle Dog Blue Heeler Dog Available for Adoption in Bastrop, Texas

This is Lucy! A 5-year-old, 31 lb Australian Cattle Dog female.
Part of Kind Spirits Rescue Dogs Pet Lifeline, we help owners spay and neuter their pets when they can’t afford it — or sometimes simply won’t do it.
Lucy was living on a chain. Her previous owner allowed us to have her spayed, and after surgery told us we could keep her since she was “an old gift” and he had many other dogs.


Lucy is now in a private foster home in Texas with 8 other dogs, learning what being loved and included feels like.

Lucy is a cute, smaller-sized Blue Heeler.
She is loyal, observant, smart, a little bossy with some dogs, pretty mellow and easy going.


+Potty trained
+Crate trained (she prefers to sit next to you)
+Leash trained
+Loves affection but not needy.
+Playful with most dogs (if she doesn’t like a dog, she may try to nibble their heels — very Heeler of her!)
+Always the champion at fetch
+Ignores cats so far
+A little weird around small dogs (what is the world is that?!)
+Walks nicely in public and rides great in the car
+Microchipped, spayed, healthy, and up to date on vaccines and preventions

Lucy can be timid from new people.

+Typical Heeler behavior includes supervising everyone, following her people from room to room, and giving dramatic side-eye when judging your life choices. (Classic side-eye included at no extra charge).

Lucy would do best with someone familiar with herding breeds.


Kind Spirits is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue based in Texas. We pull dogs from kill shelters, owner surrenders, street abandonments, and neglect cases. We provide them with basic training and behavior valuation and help them find loving homes.
