Meet Bunga, the dog who pulled off the canine equivalent of using a fake ID in reverse.

When Bunga arrived at a small shelter, he was so terrified and shut down that he was mistakenly labeled a senior dog. Turns out this handsome guy isn’t ready for bingo night and early bird specials at all—he’s actually a young, goofy, fun-loving pup estimated to be only 1–2 years old.

After a few weeks in foster care, the real Bunga has emerged, and wow... what a reveal.

We believe Bunga is a gorgeous Anatolian Shepherd mix (DNA results pending), and he’ll likely fill out to around 80 pounds of pure best-friend material.

His foster family says he’s the kind of dog who makes you wonder how he ever ended up homeless in the first place. Despite being underweight when found, he has maintained the sweetest disposition and is incredibly teachable. He already appears to know commands like sit and shake, and he’s eager to learn more.
