Meet Dexter.
At just shy of a year old and already 57 pounds, Dexter is still growing into his giant paws and even bigger personality. This handsome Anatolian Shepherd mix may look dignified in photos, but spend five minutes with him and you'll quickly discover his true purpose in life: enthusiastically giving hugs to everyone he meets.
Athletic, curious, playful, and smart, Dexter moves through the world with full puppy enthusiasm and zero concern for personal space. He can go from zooming around the yard to snuggling his beloved leopard print blankie in record time. One minute he looks like a majestic livestock guardian, the next he's acting like an oversized toddler who just wants to be included in everything.
Despite his future giant-dog status, Dexter has an incredibly sweet and gentle heart. He does wonderfully with kids and dogs of all sizes, and he's already housetrained, neutered, and fully vaccinated.
Dexter is the perfect blend of goofy puppy chaos and future gentle giant all long legs, giant hugs, and unconditional love.

S.T.A.R. Group, Inc is a foster-based organization located in Corpus Christi, TX. All pets are in a foster home in South Texas and are transported once adopted. Our animals are listed in different cities throughout the country that has transport available.
Adoption Fee includes a microchip, all age-appropriate vaccines, spay/neuter, current on recommended preventions and a ride on the next available transport to their new families' area.
Applications are processed in the order they are received. S.T.A.R. Group is made up of volunteers, so please give us a couple of days to begin processing your application.

The Anatolian Shepherd is a large and powerful ancient breed known for its loyalty, intelligence, and protective nature. Originating in Turkey, these dogs were bred to guard livestock from predators, showcasing their strong natural instincts. Anatolian Shepherds have a distinctive short double coat that comes in various colors, with a black mask common on their faces. They require early socialization and consistent training to manage their independent yet devoted temperament effectively.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity.
