Fitz - American Staffordshire Terrier and Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in New York, New York

Meet Fitz.

Fitz's life began with more hardship than any puppy should ever have to endure. He was found discarded in Georgia, suffering from a collar that had become embedded in his neck as he grew. The collar had cut deep into his skin, leaving a painful, infected wound that required extensive medical care and treatment. Thankfully, Fitz was rescued just in time. With expert veterinary care, patience, and lots of love, he healed both physically and emotionally. Today, the pain and neglect that once defined his story are behind him, and this resilient boy is ready for the bright future he deserves. Despite everything he has been through, Fitz has a heart full of love. He is sweet, gentle, and grateful for every bit of kindness he receives. He enjoys spending time with his people, soaking up affection, and simply being part of a family. Fitz has already proven how strong he is. Now, all he needs is a forever home where he can finally leave his past behind and focus on what comes next: belly rubs, cozy naps, happy adventures, and the unconditional love he has always deserved. After surviving the unimaginable, Fitz is ready to find his forever happy place. Could that place be with you?

The American Staffordshire Terrier, also known as the Amstaff, is a medium sized, muscular breed known for its loyalty and courage. Developed in the United States, they are intelligent and affectionate dogs, making them great family companions. With a distinctive short coat and strong build, American Staffordshire Terriers are often misunderstood due to their past as fighting dogs, but they are actually loving and playful pets when raised in a nurturing environment. They thrive on human interaction and are eager to please their owners.

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
