Hello new friend! I’m Ranger, and let me tell you why I’m an extraordinarily great dog! I’m a beautiful and flashy looking guy with my merle coat and big smile! My foster mom thinks I’m probably a Cane Corso and Blue Heeler mix, which is why I have such a striking presence and appearance. I get compliments everywhere I go!
I’m about 5 years old, so I’m the perfect age - I’m past the puppy shenanigans and mostly just want to be lazy and cuddle with you on the couch. Don’t get me wrong, I still have plenty of energy if we’re going to do something, but if we’re not, I’m fine to nap and snuggle up to you! I’m just a very chill guy and nothing gets me too excited!
I am completely potty trained with no accidents in the house and I know my basic commands. I like to walk with purpose on the leash, and I’m still working on loose leash walking, but my foster mom says I’m still pretty easy to take on walks with just a martingale collar.
I live with 3 large adult male dogs and we get along great! I take cues from them nicely when they’re not in the mood for playing or running in the yard with me and I find something else to do. I haven’t met a cat, but I don’t find bunnies and small critters in the yard interesting at all. I’m not sure why my dog brothers find them so exciting!
I’ve been polite and get along well with older children. I’m 75lbs and sometimes forget my dimensions, so I might not be a good match for small children. The only toys I find interesting are fabric or stuffed toys, so I might be tempted to borrow them from kids, I can’t help it!
I’m VERY food motivated and I LOVE people food, so I’m still working on good manners when the humans are eating. They tell me I don’t need to be so close, but how else am I going to catch all the smells and crumbs?!
I’m a pretty perfect guy, right? Well, I do come with a fine print... I have a rare metabolic disorder that causes me to form bladder stones if I don’t follow a specific diet. I don’t require medication, but I do need a special food that costs about $130 per month. My diet restrictions are pretty easy to follow because I need to avoid extra protein and sodium, so I shouldn’t have things like meat, dairy, eggs, or processed foods or meaty treats. Fortunately I really like all of the treats I can have, and my foster mom would be happy to supply you with more information about my diet and my favorite foods and treats I can have!
I’m really looking forward to meeting you, so please submit an application to adopt me! I’d love to be forever yours!
Loves and licks,
Ranger
