American Foxhound and Hound Dogs Available for Adoption

This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally.

Meet Timber Twinkle, a 5-month-old Hound mix, weighing about 21 pounds (as of 2/12/26). This beauty hails from the Twinkle litter that were sadly surrendered by neglectful owners in Tennessee. Timber is ready to move forward and bring joy to her future fur-ever family!

"Timber" isn't just something you yell when a tree falls over! It's a rally call! This sweet girl will make a terrific adventure friend for the adventure junkies in your home. Whether you're sailing, zip lining or mountain climbing, Timber is ready to go! She is curious, energetic and up for anything, so bring it on!

She loves to be picked up and loved and will gladly give you kisses as well.
She is learning not to jump from excitement and should do well with the kiddos too!

While Timber doesn't know any commands, she'll catch on with routine (but treats don't hurt!) Timber has some experience with crates and asks that her future family has patience as she adjusts to leashes and potty training (though she does know how to use a dog door). This fun girl is great on her own but gets along with other pups as well. Despite her sad situation, she has a wonderful attitude that will make you wanna dance to the song "Timber" by Pitbull and Kesha!

It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
