Meet Boston.
Boston is an approximately 3-year-old bully breed who weighs 50lbs and was found as a stray in Pratt, Kansas. After spending about three weeks at the shelter, it became clear that shelter life was becoming increasingly difficult for him. He was extremely fearful, and his fear-related behaviors were getting worse rather than better.
Boston has now come to The Pet Connection Sanctuary so our behavioral team can give him the time, space, and individualized work he needs. Our goal is to better understand him and work on the socialization deficits and fear that have made navigating people and new situations so difficult for him.
And we're already getting to see another side of Boston.
Away from the shelter environment and given the opportunity to interact at his own pace, he's beginning to show us that there's a social, affectionate dog underneath all that fear. He has a long way to go, but these early moments of connection are exactly what we hoped to see.
For now, Boston gets time. No pressure and no expectations about how quickly he should progress. We'll meet him where he is and see where he can go.
