Meet Kodiak!
Our handsome, hearing- and vision-impaired senior, Kodiak (AKA Koda), is finally ready to find his perfect retirement home!
Koda is approximately 10 years old and is 80 pounds of pure love. His journey to Pets with Disabilities began under upsetting circumstances. He came to us from a shelter after being misdiagnosed with an "abscess" that had been surgically opened. When we saw the photo of him lying in a bloody kennel, we knew we had to give him the care and compassion he deserved.
Thanks to our incredible veterinary team, Koda was properly diagnosed with a mass, and they were able to safely and successfully remove it!
Now that he's healthy again, Koda's true personality has blossomed. He has become more confident, affectionate, and playful, and he absolutely loves attention from his people. His dream retirement home would include a big, comfy bed, plenty of belly rubs and a family that appreciates the quiet companionship only a senior dog can offer.
Koda is house-trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and gets along wonderfully with both dogs and cats. Although he is both hearing and vision impaired, he navigates his surroundings remarkably well and quickly learns the layout of his home. Because of his limited vision, we are unsure how he would do in a home with stairs, so a one-level home with minimal stairs would be ideal.
Kodiak is smart, gentle, and well-mannered. In fact, he has never made a peep! He is the definition of a loyal, loving companion and is simply looking for a peaceful home where he can enjoy his golden years surrounded by kindness, comfort, and love.
