Akbash Dogs Available for Adoption in Lake Arrowhead, California

Diet Dr. Pepper (or Pep, as we’ve been calling him) was found abandoned at a local dog park. He’s was found with a few cuts and scrapes, and underweight. The Mountains Humane Society has been nurturing him back to health.

He’s a young dog, but easily trainable and housebroken. He’s not destructive, is often left alone in his foster home, and gets along well with his other foster dog sisters and a cat! Pep is a chill guy, who is relatively low energy but loves affection.

The Akbash is a large, noble breed originating from Turkey, known for their remarkable dedication and protective nature towards their flock. These majestic white dogs possess a calm yet alert demeanor, making them excellent livestock guardians. Renowned for their courage and intelligence, Akbashes are independent thinkers with a strong instinct to defend their charges. While gentle and affectionate with their families, they require early socialization and consistent training to thrive as well adjusted companions.
