Meet RENE!
He is 1.4 years old and a petite 7 lbs! While we don't know his exact breed, we think he's a tuxedo kitty given his colors. We put him down as a ragdoll mix, simply because his affectionate personality is on par with that breed.
**PSA: THIS CAT MIGHT BE THE MOST AFFECTIONATE CAT WE HAVE EVER POSTED!** If you are looking for a cuddly love bug, this is your guy. Rene's rescuer and foster, whom we have worked with for years, said this cat is the sweetest, most affectionate and cuddly cat she has ever rescued, fostered and met in her entire life. She can't stop raving about how wonderful his personality is! He is literally the absolute best.
The moment he sees you, he will walk right over to you, flop on the floor and roll over, asking for pets before anything else. He loves rubbing against your legs, greeting you with constant little head bops! Not to mention, he makes the most adorable little air biscuits while being petted.
He is a playful little guy who really enjoys wand toys, little balls, and interactive bird/feather toys. When he gets excited, he goes all out on the toys, play biting and giving little bunny kicks. But that's about as "crazy" as he gets; the rest of the calm he is incredibly calm.
He rarely meows, except to ask for attention or when he's in the carrier going to the vet. We can't blame him on the latter scenario!
He has shown himself to be incredibly confident and trusting of all people, right off the hop. Rather than hiding, like a lot of cats do, he seeks human interaction from day one and he adapted to his new indoor life with ease. He even allowed the foster's sister, whom he had never met, to pet him without hesitation. That is incredibly unique for a kitty! He is AMAZING.
He is both curious and reasonably cautious when exploring new surroundings. He is aware of unfamiliar sounds and will pause to investigate them. Once he's checked out his surroundings and is realizes all is well, he quickly settles in and is good to go.
He is also very easy to handle. He calmly allows his foster to clean him with grooming wipes with no issue. He is perfectly comfortable being picked up as well.
He is 100% litter box trained.
He is currently in a home with many larger dogs but the foster says he doesn't love them as they make him nervous and he may swat at them. We think he would be best in a home without dogs or perhaps with a small elderly dog who minds their own business.
He hasn't been tested with children yet, but we think he would be fine with children who will approach him respectfully. He has never shown any aggressive behavior toward any human.
He has a moderate appetite and prefers small meals throughout the day. So far, the foster says she hasn't found a food that he gets especially excited about but he eats just fine! He isn't a food driven cat who will constantly reminds you that it's meal time (which frankly, can be a blessing! Kitties screaming for their breakfast at 4am isn't much fun!).
If there is anything you take away from him, Rene prefers company and affection above all else! He would thrive with a person/people who are home a lot and love to cuddle!
HIS STORY: Before being rescued, he lived in a small TNR (trap, neuter, release) colony with his mom and brother. Sadly, his mother and brother both disappeared just a few days before Rene's rescue, otherwise the rescuer would have taken them all in :( This rescuer TNR's him earlier this year in March and has kept an eye on him since, hoping to one day rescue him when she had the space to foster him - and that time has come!
He is neutered, 3dx negative, has had his rabies vaccine, FeLV vaccine and his FVRCP vaccine. He is also fecal negative and has been dewormed. He is also microchipped.
PLEASE NOTE: Rene is currently in Puerto Rico and will fly to his forever home once adopted. Adoption fees listed here ($300) cover all transport related costs to the States. There are NO other fees.. :)
