Meet Gibby: The Cuddler with a Heart of Gold
Hello there! Are you looking for a professional snuggler? Because I’ve been practicing my purr just for you. My rescuers found me outside an auto parts store, emaciated, covered in lice, and on the verge of exhaustion, but I didn't let that stop me- I walked right up to them to say hello! These days, my favorite thing in the world is getting pets and showing off my 'old lady' meow. I’m a resilient girl who is finally ready to trade the foster life for a forever sofa.
A Day in My Life
Life with me is all about the simple joys. I’m a laid-back tuxedo lady who believes that belly rubs are the best part of any afternoon. While I’m gaining more energy every day and starting to show my silly, playful side, I’m mostly a world-class companion. I’m starting to play with toys and discovering my inner huntress! I’m not a huge fan of being picked up (I prefer to keep my paws on the ground, thank you very much!), but I will happily sit beside you and drool a little bit out of pure happiness while you pet me.
Quick Facts
Age/Breed: Senior, estimated 8 years / Tuxedo Domestic Shorthair
Energy Level: Low-key & Relaxed
Compatibility: Great with adults; best with cat-savvy children who respect a kitty's boundaries.
Health: Heartworm positive (with a secondary heart murmur).
A Note on My Health
I might have a couple of medical terms in my file, but don't let those fool you- I act just like any other happy cat! I tested positive for heartworms, which in cats is quite different than in dogs. Since cats aren't the natural hosts, most heartworms fail to reach the adult stage and will eventually die off on their own. I also have a heart murmur, which my vets believe is likely a side effect of the heartworms. Currently, I'm showing zero negative symptoms and I don't require any intensive treatment- just a loving home where I can relax and let nature take its course!
You may have noticed my beautiful blue eyes in the photos: I have what they call "Florida Spots" (Florida keratopathy). These are just tiny, cloudy "fluffy" spots on my eyes that are very common for cats in tropical climates. They are completely benign, don't hurt or hinder my vision, and don't require any treatment- they just add to my unique charm!
My Ideal Home
I’m looking for a cozy, stable environment where I can continue to blossom. Because I value my personal space when it comes to being carried, I’d do best in a home with people who understand feline body language- adults or cat-savvy kids who know I prefer pets over being picked up are my favorite kind of people. I have so much life left to live and so much love to give; I just need a quiet corner and a kind family to call my own.
