Girly Girl's journey started in the most heartbreaking place: a busy local convenience center and dump built inside an old quarry. For the cats living there, survival was a daily struggle; the manager fed them on the five days the center was open, but on his days off, they were left to desperately forage through the dumpsters for food. We originally arrived simply to TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) the small colony, but we quickly learned that Girly Girl's story was different. The manager explained she had only been there for about two weeks, likely abandoned by someone who saw him feeding the other cats and thought it was a safe place to leave her. But Girly Girl knew she didn't belong in a dump. She had spent every day desperately begging to come inside the office where she wasn't allowed, and the moment we walked up, she immediately followed us, practically crying out to be rescued. We knew right then and there that we couldn't leave her behind, and we are so grateful we could bring her to safety.
