Dottie is a discerning feline who does not bestow her affection willy-nilly. You must work for and earn her love. But, oh, once she decides someone is her person, she will follow them around and want to be close to them. She comes when she’s called and will do almost anything for food or a treat. Dottie loves eating. (Who can blame her, when she didn’t always know where she would find her next meal?)
Dottie showed up on her foster mom’s front porch already eartipped from being TNRed. Since the time her foster mom brought her indoors, Dottie has been good about staying in the house, where the food and fun is. Dottie wants to be part of the group in her foster home (which includes her foster mom and dogs) and will jump up on the bed with the dogs and snuggle. She also likes to pursue the dogs’ tails, starting a wild time in the house. Thankfully, the dogs she lives with wouldn’t hurt her and participate in energetic games of chase.
Dottie needs to be the only cat in the house, as she does not like other cats. (We can only imagine what sorts of interactions she had with them when she was living outside. It’s understandable that she would want to avoid drama with other felines.) She tolerates cat-savvy dogs.
While we don’t know how Dottie does with children, we know she is a clear communicator about her personal space. She doesn’t like to be handled a lot (except on her terms); she will use the natural tools at her disposal (her paws and her voice) to swat and growl if she has had enough. Couldn’t we all use more clear communication in our lives? Dottie won’t leave you wondering about her feelings. That said, she will accept a snuggle with consent. She’s a little bit independent, but will come to her foster mom for affection.
We estimate Dottie is around a year old but no older than two years (perhaps born in fall 2025 or a little before). She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. The vet’s office is extremely stressful for Dottie; she needs to be medicated to visit the vet. (Sometimes we all need a little help in dealing with a stressful situation.)
