Meet Dirtbag! Yes, you read that right. His name is Dirtbag, but we promise this boy is anything BUT!
A few years ago, Dirtbag showed up on someone's front porch in heartbreaking condition. He was severely underweight, covered in fleas and ticks, and desperately needed someone to give him a chance. Thankfully, he found exactly that. What started as a hungry, neglected cat showing up on a doorstep turned into years of love, companionship, and one very special bond.
And let us tell you, Dirtbag has been nothing but an absolute JOY ever since!
This sweet boy has one of the LOUDEST purrs you'll ever hear, and he isn't shy about showing his appreciation for a little love. He absolutely adores affection, loves to cuddle, and will even curl up in bed with his favorite person at night. He responds to sweet little whistles, and once you've earned his heart, you've got a pretty incredible companion.
So why the name Dirtbag? Well, this handsome boy LOVES rolling around in the grass and dirt! He's an adventurous little guy who has always enjoyed exploring the outdoors, hunting, and then coming back inside for some well-deserved snuggles. He previously had a special microchip-activated cat door that allowed him to come and go as he pleased, and he absolutely loved his independence.
Unfortunately, Dirtbag's world changed when his owner got married and a dog joined the family. His new canine stepbrother has a very strong prey drive, and despite everyone's best efforts, the two simply cannot safely coexist. For the past four months, Dirtbag has been kept indoors to protect him, and his family has made the heartbreaking decision to find him a home where he can feel safe and happy again.
This is not a cat who is being rehomed because he's unwanted. Quite the opposite. Dirtbag is so incredibly loved that his family is willing to break their own hearts to give him the life he deserves.
Dirtbag would do best in a home without dogs, particularly those with strong prey drives. His ideal family would understand his adventurous spirit and provide him with plenty of enrichment, affection, and safe opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, whether through a secure catio, enclosed yard, or another protected outdoor space. And when he's done exploring? He's more than happy to come inside and snuggle up with his people!
He's also proven to be a perfect gentleman with his litter box! Despite never having used one before his family's move, he adjusted beautifully and hasn't had a single accident. He enjoys being loved on, although he does have one little request: please skip the belly rubs!
Dirtbag can even bring some of his favorite belongings along, including his cat tree, toys, water fountain, and microchip-activated cat door, to help him settle into his new home.
We know his name might make you laugh, but his story is one that will absolutely tug at your heartstrings. This boy went from being a starving stray on someone's porch to being someone's whole world. Now, through no fault of his own, he needs to start over.
Dirtbag doesn't need someone to rescue him from being unloved. He needs someone who can give him the safe, happy life his current family wishes they could continue providing.
Whoever gets to love this precious boy next is going to be incredibly lucky. He has so much affection, companionship, and those ridiculously loud purrs waiting for the right person.
