DESCRIPTION
Casper is an approximately 5 year old male cat that comes to us with a sad story. He and his housemate, a black cat named Oliver, were abandoned by their owner at an outdoor colony of cats managed by a friend of the rescue. We know this because they were left there with collars and name tags. Tragically, Oliver lost his life on the street before he could be rescued. But Casper is back safe inside and looking for his real forever home.
This gentle giant is 15lbs and all lean, so think BIG! He is low energy and loves to cuddle and stay close to his people. Currently being fostered in a home office with a hundred and one things to knock over, not a single item has been disturbed. He is confident and curious with new people and generous with his affection.
Casper is a great cat with a lot of love to give. However, has been understandably traumatized by the recent turmoil in his life -- losing his person, losing his cat friend, suddenly adjusting to life outdoors, likely for the first time -- and has been dealing with some anxiety and overstimulation aggression, reactions that are not uncommon in cats dealing with this kind of trauma. He has shown great improvement in the month+ he has been back inside and we have every hope for his continued improvement, but for this reason we are seeking an adopter who is an experienced cat owner with the patience and understanding to give Casper the love, time, and consistency he needs to heal. No young children. We expect he would do well with other cats, as we believe he had a cat housemate and behaved well with the outdoor colony cats while he was with them. Dogs unknown.
