Dr. Moore is a 5‑year‑old orange and white gentle giant whose world changed overnight. When his beloved owner passed away, he suddenly found himself without the home and routine he knew so well. This big, beautiful boy has been trying to understand this new chapter, moving slowly and carefully as he adjusts. Even in his grief, his sweetness is unmistakable. He’s wonderfully polite with the other foster cats, just as he was in his previous home, and he allows us to pet him and pick him up even though he's only known us for a short time. At his previous home, he would confidently run to greet you at the door and tell you about his day. He was very friendly and affectionate. Right now, he is a heartbroken cat learning how to feel safe again. What he needs most is an adopter who can offer patience, kindness, and a steady presence to help him rediscover the warm, confident, affectionate companion he used to be. With love and understanding, Dr. Moore will absolutely blossom.
This cat is neutered, microchipped, up to date on distemper and rabies vaccinations, dewormings, tested negative for FIV/Felv, is on flea/tick preventative and ear mite preventative.

If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as 'available for adoption', that means the animal is still in DPR's care. *Please note - we do not do in-person meet and greets. Potential adopters can speak to the cats foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the cat. You can pick your kitty up 'curb side'. Cats can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *

DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:
Initial vet visit Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)Distemper vaccinationSNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart wormBroad spectrum dewormers Monthly flea/tick preventative Ear mite preventative The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
