Meet Mavis, a sweet little girl who prefers to keep tabs on you from a safe distance.

She's still shy and a little skittish, so she's not quite at the “HELLO, STRANGER, PET ME IMMEDIATELY” stage of her journey. Instead, you'll often find her peeking around corners, watching what you're doing, and deciding whether you're trustworthy enough to approach.

The good news? Food is making excellent progress on that decision. Mavis LOVES wet food and dry treats, and she is also a big fan of pom-pom toys. She may not come running for affection yet, but she absolutely comes running when snacks are involved.

Mavis gets along well with other cats and loves hanging out by the windows. She's looking for someone patient who will give her the time and space to build confidence. We have a feeling that once she realizes she's safe, there's going to be a very sweet little personality underneath that cautious exterior.

For now, she'll be over here...watching you.
