Meet Lovey: Proof That a Name Can Be a Personality.
Some cats are given names that they eventually grow into. Lovey apparently skipped that step and showed up already understanding the assignment.
This gorgeous girl is exactly what her name promises—a world-class sweetheart who loves people, adores other cats, and seems to believe that every person she meets is simply a friend she hasn't cuddled yet. With an estimated birthday of 6/5/19, Lovey is about 7 years old, but don't tell her that. She's convinced she's still a kitten, and honestly...we're not about to argue with someone who can still zoom across the room and pounce on a toy like she's auditioning for the Kitten Olympics.
Lovey is FeLV positive, but here's the wonderful news: her FeLV is regressive. That means her immune system has successfully controlled the virus, she is not shedding it, and she will likely enjoy a normal lifespan. While there's plenty of evidence that some FeLV-positive and FeLV-negative cats have lived together without spreading the virus, we feel it's still safest for Lovey to be an only kitty, live with other FeLV-positive cats, or share her home with dogs. We just want to give this precious girl the very best chance at a long, happy life, and she is well on her way to doing just that!
Right now, Lovey spends far too much of her time in a shelter cage, dreaming about things most cats take for granted. She'd much rather be perched at the top of a cat tree, supervising the neighborhood birds from a sunny window, or curled up beside her favorite human after a long day of...well...watching birds from a sunny window. She would absolutely flourish in an environment where she can do that!
Lovey has so much life, love, and happiness left to share. She isn't looking for someone to feel sorry for her—she's looking for someone who sees what we see: a joyful, affectionate, playful little soul who just happens to have a medical label that doesn't define her. She's ready to trade shelter walls for windowsills, lonely nights for couch cuddles, and waiting...for finally being home.
If your home has room for one extraordinary little love bug, Lovey is ready to spend the rest of her (very likely long and wonderful) life proving that she earned her name. And she hopes that her forever home includes a lifetime supply of canned food. This fantastic girl LOVES canned food and is accustomed to receiving it twice a day.
Would you like to meet this practically perfect little gal? If so, please complete an application and schedule a meet and greet! You will fall in love with Lovey, just like we have!
