Odyssey’s journey hasn’t just been an adventure—it’s been a testament to how much heart a tiny tortoiseshell kitten can carry.
She came to FUR as a semi-feral baby, unsure of people and overwhelmed by the world. And then, before she even made it through our doors, her crate malfunctioned and she slipped out into the truck bed. One moment she was on her way to safety, and the next she was a frightened blur disappearing into the brush around our parking lot.
For two weeks, we searched. We set traps, checked trail cameras, and hoped for even a glimpse of her. Just when we were beginning to fear the worst, she appeared—trotting past the building like a little ghost, then ducking under the front porch into a crawlspace. We moved a trap to that spot, and within minutes she was safe. Hungry, dirty, and exhausted, but okay. And when she saw her siblings and her mom again, she melted with relief.
Odyssey has made remarkable progress since that day. She’s learning that hands can be gentle, voices can be kind, and the world doesn’t have to be scary. But she still has a journey ahead of her. She needs a quiet home, ideally with another friendly cat to show her the ropes, and an adopter who understands that trust grows slowly and beautifully when given time, patience, and consistency.
She’s a brave little wanderer with a soft, cautious heart—ready for someone who can help her continue transforming from a frightened stray into a cherished companion. Her odyssey brought her back to safety. Now she just needs a place to finally rest.
