She came into foster care along with three other cats after their elderly owner could no longer care for them and had to move into a facility. While the other cats adjusted more quickly, Irene found the transition especially difficult and spent months learning that she was finally safe.

For nearly four months, Irene kept her distance before bravely taking the first steps toward trusting her foster. Now, this gentle girl has blossomed in her own quiet way. She seeks out pets from her foster and has even started approaching visitors for affection and attention. Watching Irene learn to trust again has been incredibly rewarding.
