Some journeys change a life forever. Peace's journey began on the streets of Abu Dhabi.
He was rescued, travelled all the way to Canada for a second chance, and quickly showed us the beautiful soul he truly is.
Then came unexpected news.
During his veterinary assessment, we learned that Peace has Stage 3 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Like anyone who loves an animal, hearing the diagnosis was heartbreaking. But his wonderful veterinarian reminded us of something we'll never forget:
"We treat the patient, not the numbers."
And Peace...
...is doing beautifully.
He has an excellent appetite, is gaining weight, has normal blood pressure, healthy phosphorus and potassium levels, no active infection, and is enjoying an excellent quality of life.
The most wonderful surprise?
Since arriving in Canada, we've watched a joyful, kitten-like side of Peace emerge. He's playful, curious, incredibly talkative, full of purrs, and completely full of life. Although he's around seven years old, you'd swear he was a happy one-year-old discovering the world for the first time. Peace absolutely loves his humans.
He'll happily entertain himself, but he truly blossoms when someone is nearby. We believe he'd thrive in a home where someone works from home, has a hybrid schedule, is retired, or where someone is often around. He simply loves sharing everyday life with his people.
His veterinarian,Dr. Kathleen Bowman at Kahu Veterinary Care, is comfortable recommending Peace for adoption with a family who understands his medical needs. His care is straightforward: a kidney-friendly diet, routine veterinary monitoring, and lots of love.
