While she is shy and easily startled, her personality shines through once she's given the time and space to feel safe. With enough patience, Peony will blossom into the sweetest companion. She is not a lap cat, but she delights in companionship and being pet, often settling down and purring nearby. Watching her grow more confident and accepting of love is one of the great joys of knowing her.

Do not let her calm demeanor fool you, because this girl has a whole other side that comes out when the pompoms appear. Peony plays fetch and takes it very seriously, chasing, retrieving, and narrating the entire adventure with enthusiastic meows. When she is not mid-game, you will find her perched on her cat tree or the back of a chair, gazing out the window for hours. She also appreciates a solitary retreat, sometimes being found tucked in a box in the back of the closet, but more often than not she likes to be where the people are.

Overall, Peony is a very polite kitty (except when she demands you throw her pompom...or find the ones she has lost under furniture). In the mornings she will wait patiently for you to wake up before hopping on the bed to say hello with a snuggle at the foot of the bed. She is also easily won over with treats and soft food, which is a good way to get on her good side early on.
