Meet Bartholomew

Bartholomew, or Bart to his friends, is a handsome brown tabby born in 2023 with a very serious face and approximately zero serious thoughts. This boy has been through a lot, but he remains a sweet, silly little goofball with a truly spectacular way of getting around. He arches his back and scurries across the room like Jimothy the Raccoon, looking for all the world like a tiny woodland creature who has somehow been given access to a house. Bart enjoys the company of other cats and likes a good game of chase, so we think he may enjoy having a friendly feline companion in a calm home. After a difficult time outdoors, Bart has regained weight and settled beautifully into shelter life. He has been a sweet, upstanding gentleman since day one and has never once forgotten where the litterbox is. He's a delightful little freak in the very best way, and with the right person, we know he'll fill a home with joy, laughter, and plenty of wonderfully weird raccoon-cat scurrying.

Health Information

Bart has been diagnosed with feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD), specifically feline idiopathic cystitis, which causes inflammation of the bladder with no known underlying cause. He has already undergone a perineal urethrostomy (PU), a surgery that widened his urethra to help reduce the risk of a life-threatening urinary blockage. Bart will need to remain on a prescription urinary diet for the rest of his life, and it is very important that he stay lean, as excess tissue can affect the flow of urine through his urethra. His family should monitor his litterbox habits and contact a veterinarian if he shows signs such as straining to urinate, vocalizing while using the litterbox, changes in urine output, or urinating outside the box. Since coming into our care, Bart has done wonderfully on his prescription diet and has had no litterbox accidents. He will need ongoing monitoring and a family committed to his special dietary needs, but in return, you'll get one incredibly sweet, resilient, and entertaining best friend.

His adoption fee is $130 and includes:
