Kiki was returned to Valley Humane's care on 9/25 after being adopted in 2020 as a kitten; his owner was moving and could not take the cat with her. Kiki has lived a quiet life with a single senior owner. He would likely appreciate to continue that lifestyle; Kiki was a solo pet in his previous home and thus does not have experience living with other cats nor dogs. Kiki is hoping to find a patient new family that can help him calmly acclimate to a new home and keep him on his Rx diet.
According to this cat’s medical history, he was previously treated for an urethral obstruction (a blockage of the tube he urinates from). While some cats have a single episode of obstruction, unfortunately other cats can re-obstruct in the future. If re-obstruction were to occur, this is a medical emergency. Seek immediate veterinary care if the cat shows signs of urinary obstruction (typically the signs include: a cat spending a lot of time in the litter box straining and vocalizing without producing urine.)

This cat will benefit from increasing his water intake. This can be achieved by feeding him canned food only and also by adding water to his canned food to give it a more soupy consistency. Prescription diets appropriate for cats with a history of urinary crystals include Royal Canin Urinary SO diet and Hill’s C/D diet. The adopting family may wish to discuss diet options with their family veterinarian.
