Hershey - Domestic Short Hair Cat for Adoption in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Hershey is a 4-year-old female domestic shorthair who was admitted as a stray on 08/01/2026 after being found with her six nursing kittens. She has been an exceptionally sweet and attentive mother, readily allowing handling of both herself and her kittens while seeking affection from staff and enjoying gentle head scratches. Medically, Hershey has a chronic abnormality affecting her right eye, including microphthalmia, mild corneal discoloration, and an elevated third eyelid. She is currently receiving erythromycin ophthalmic ointment twice daily, and while enucleation may be considered in the future, the eye does not appear to be causing her discomfort at this time. She was treated for fleas on intake, tested negative for panleukopenia, and is otherwise bright, alert, and caring for her kittens appropriately. Hershey and her family are looking for a foster home where they can continue to thrive together.

Staff noted on 8/4 "Hershey was observed to be calm and relaxed in her kennel with her kittens. She readily allowed all handling of both herself and her kittens without showing any signs of stress or discomfort. Hershey was very friendly throughout the interaction, leaning into attention and clearly enjoying gentle head scratches. She remained social, tolerant, and easy to handle, demonstrating appropriate maternal behavior while staying comfortable with staff presence and routine handling."
