Bootsie Mae is a sweet and wonderful tuxedo girl whose story is a true testament to resilience. During a bitter winter cold snap, she showed up on a doorstep, cold and in need, quite literally asking for help. Thankfully, the kind people who found her took her in and cared for her until she could make her way to Stray to Spay.

Once in our care, we learned that Bootsie Mae faces a couple of unique challenges. She has diabetes insipidus, a condition that affects how her body regulates water, but it is easily managed with just a drop of medicine twice a day. She is also totally blind. Her eyes were removed to keep her comfortable and pain free and to reduce her risk of future cancer. It might sound like a lot, but Bootsie Mae has never once let it slow her down.

Even as a completely blind kitten, Bootsie Mae is happy, playful, and full of life. She confidently explores her surroundings, enjoys playtime just as much as any other kitten, and shows every day that she is a wonderful, well adjusted cat. Her sweet and affectionate nature shines through in everything she does, proving that she needs nothing more than a loving home to truly thrive.

Bootsie Mae's care needs are simple: a drop of medicine twice a day and a safe, consistent environment suited to a blind cat. In return, she offers a whole heart full of love, playfulness, and gratitude to whoever gives her that chance.
