Meet Mr. OJ, the beloved street cat who is finally retiring from his years running the streets of Wilmington!
OJ has the distinctive, adorable meow of a life long smoker and he loves to greet you! OJ had spent years comfortably living outside, roaming from porch to porch and park to park. He began staying on a HAP employee's porch, and eventually his affectionate and cuddly nature made them suspect he was getting tired of the street life. One day, the employee went out to the porch to bring another cat to the shelter, but before they could pick up that cat, OJ had already climbed into the carrier and laid down. He made it clear - he wanted a home of his own!
If you're looking for an affectionate, talkative, playful companion, Mr. OJ is waiting for you!
*OJ coexisted with other cats while he was a stray, but may still have resource-guarding habits with food, so he may do better as the only cat in the home.
*If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific cat but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! We may require all household members, including children, to come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, and a small bag of food to get you started.
