Meet River AKA River Rat!
River isn't just a basic tabby. He is the coolest tabby you will ever meet!
River came into foster care at just 7 days old, smelling strongly of cigarette smoke and suffering from a terrible upper respiratory infection. Because his URI made it impossible for him to latch onto a bottle, he was tube-fed for the first few weeks of his life. Despite such a rough start, this little guy has absolutely THRIVED!
River is equal parts sweet, silly, and completely sploinky. His foster dads official description of him? Sploinky. And honestly, it fits perfectly.
This boy is WEIRD in the absolute best way. He loves to stare intensely at walls before looking at you like, Did you see that?! And no, River... we did not. Sometimes youll even catch him beating up the wall. Why? We have absolutely no idea.
He is also obsessed with plastic straws. But if you make eye contact with him while hes chewing one, he immediately stops. Of course, hell keep sneaking little peeks at you to see if youre still watching before he tries again.
River LOVES dogs and has grown up with a 120-lb Great Pyrenees, a 70-lb Silver Lab, and a 70-lb Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix. He loves them all! He has also grown up with cats of every age, from tiny bottle babies all the way to 15-year-old seniors.
When he isnt busy being a tiny weirdo, River is incredibly affectionate. He loves to snuggle, loves blankets, and still does the sweetest little newborn scrunch before stretching out like a big boy if you interrupt his nap.
He loves to play and isn't picky about his toys. Cat springs? YES. Feather wands? YES. Catnip mice? YES. A dust bunny you accidentally missed while cleaning? EVEN BETTER.
River may have started life with some pretty big challenges, but he has grown into the happiest, funniest, most loving little guy. He isn't your average tabby—he's a one-of-a-kind, wall-staring, straw-chewing, dog-loving, blanket-snuggling SPLoinKY little legend.
River is scheduled to be neutered September 2nd, however, we are accepting early applications!
River is located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast but can be transported to the northeast. His adoption fee is $300.
