MEET GORGEOUS — AND YES, SHE REALLY IS!

Gorgeous is a stunning little calico who came to us from our Orchard Project along with her siblings, Pinkaboo and Newton.

When Gorgeous first arrived, she wanted absolutely NOTHING to do with us humans. She was a shy, timid, slightly swatty teenager who wasn't quite convinced that people were something she needed in her life.

So, Gorgeous entered our Feral to Friendly Program, and slowly... the walls started coming down.

At first, she simply started looking at me differently. Instead of fear and suspicion, there was curiosity. Then came the little signs that told me we were getting somewhere — she would knead and march her tiny feet in place when I approached, almost like she was excited to see me.

And then... she started actually looking forward to my visits.

Now, to be fair, I WAS usually carrying wet food, and Gorgeous is a girl who takes her wet food very seriously. But somewhere along the way, it stopped being just about the food.

She started welcoming my touch.

She discovered head rubs.

Then belly rubs.

And before long, this once-swatty little girl was flopping around and soaking up the attention.

Gorgeous has now graduated to our Adoption Center, where she's getting something incredibly important — attention and interaction from lots of different people. She's learning that I'm not the only trustworthy human in the world and that new people can mean love, treats, pets and good things too.

Gorgeous may still be shy when she first meets you. She's probably not going to run into a stranger's arms on day one. But give this girl a little patience and the chance to connect with you, and you will get to experience something really special — watching her choose YOU.

I've watched it happen.

I've watched fear turn into curiosity... curiosity turn into trust... and trust turn into affection.

And I have absolutely no doubt that once Gorgeous feels safe in her forever home, she is going to make an amazing companion.

Sometimes the best relationships aren't instant.

Sometimes they're earned one head rub, one belly rub, one bowl of wet food and one tiny step at a time.

And Gorgeous is worth every single one.
