Pancake's story is an important reminder to keep your cats indoors, get them fixed, and why trap and neuter work is very important for protecting cats and kittens living in unsafe conditions outdoors.
He was born to a feral mother in the back of a Lowes garden section stocking area, amongst dangerous equipment like forklifts and heavy pallettes that could easily have crushed them. He and his sister were both brought to us by an employee who reached out to us for guidance and equipment for humane trapping.
When he and his sister were still kittens, he was much better at hiding, and played it safe. His sister, now named Maple, was a bit braver (or hungrier). She would venture out and drag food left by employees for them back to her brother. This meant he was a bit harder to catch than her, but was brought to us a week after her.
After arriving at the shelter at 8 weeks old, they were very scared, and needed some time in foster to help them adjust to home life. But even now, they both prefer the companionship of any cat-friendly cat over laying on a person's lap.
Pancake is much more friendly to people than his sister nowadays, and he enjoys a godd head and chin scratch from the comfort of a covered bed. If you are looking for a cat companion for a younger cat or older kitten, come see Pancake. He is a sweet boy, looking for a good home.
