GARF is still a young cat, but he's already survived more than most animals ever should.

After being hit by a car, GARF was left with broken toes, a broken pelvis, and a broken tail. While many of his injuries healed, the damage to his tail caused permanent nerve damage that left him unable to empty his bladder on his own. To stay healthy, GARF needs his bladder expressed three times a day. He also can't control his bowel movements and will likely experience recurring urinary tract infections. While there's always hope that his nerve function could improve, it's safest to assume these will be lifelong needs.

It would be easy to let those medical challenges define him.

But they don't.

GARF is one of the happiest, sweetest cats you'll ever meet. He loves to play, goes absolutely crazy for catnip and kicker toys, and somehow greets each day with nothing but joy. He doesn't know he's different—he just knows he wants to have fun and be loved. And somehow, despite everything he's been through, he may just be the cutest cat you'll ever lay eyes on.

Caring for GARF is much less intimidating than it sounds. Our staff quickly learned how to express his bladder, and we're more than happy to teach and support anyone interested in adopting him. He would make an amazing companion for someone willing to open their heart to a special-needs cat, and he'd also be a wonderful clinic cat for a veterinary hospital.
