Almond & Cashew (playful and loving BFFs) - Domestic Short Hair Cat for Adoption in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania

Almond and his brother-from-another-mother, Cashew, were born around April 2023, and they came to LCCR in May 2026. Almond and Cashew were among a large group of cats pulled from a Harrisburg hoarding situation, and they were just completely overwhelmed and in shock with their change in life situation. They moved to their current foster home in New Cumberland so they could decompress and learn 'how to properly cat' in a quiet and relaxed home. At first they were hand shy and ran, but over the course of their first two weeks, they learned that their foster parents were very nice and provided yummy food and toys.

Almond (brown tabby) was the first to come out of his shell--he seems to be the "leader" of the two. Cashew (grey and white tabby) seems to rely on him to be the first out the gate and scope out new circumstances. Very often, Cashew will walk directly adjacent to Almond, side to side, as if for comfort. When Almond will stop, Cashew stops, and then the two of them will bonk heads and purr. If they are separated, they inevitably move towards each other and caress their heads against each other They clearly love each other and enjoy each other's presence. When they sleep, they curl up with each other, no matter how small the space! Their foster mom has a ton of videos she can send you if you are interested.

When it comes time for a feather wand, though, it's every cat for themselves! They will both chase the wand with focused and independent determination! Independently, Almond will sit just out of reach until you pet his head, and then he will venture forward--food is a huge motivator for him. Cashew is a bit shyer and will also sit just out of reach but then luxuriates in pets by lying on the floor and making biscuits. And during that time, they will also (big surprise) butt heads! When it is food time, they both will let you know they are hungry with meows!

These two don't really seem to want to be around other cats anymore now that they have learned what it is like to just be the two of them. They don't seem to mind the resident dog and are frequently interested in the weird dog things she does. They would do best in a quiet house (they deserve that after a chaotic start to life). Older kids would be fine since they would be more patient with them--as long as they aren't the type who get screaming during video games.
